Youth Sailing Instruction

Although smaller in scope this year, we look forward to providing sailing classes for youth of all ages! With some recent acquisitions, we have a selection of singlehanded boats to fit all sizes of sailors from small to tall! Besides allowing for social distancing, a singlehander ensures every sailor builds competency in controlling their own vessel! Student:instructor ratios of 4:1 keep instruction individualized and accommodate a range of skill levels.

Spirit of America

Our longest-running summer program, Spirit of America returns for the 11th consecutive year at SCC. Middle school students spend a week learning the safe way to sail a dinghy, drive a powerboat, paddle a kayak or canoe, and row a pram! Students also have the opportunity to earn their MD powerboat license. Learn more at the Spirit of America website.

This year, our classes will be capped at 8 students per week.

Youth Racing

Our race team pilot program in 2019 was a success by all accounts. While toned down from our original plans this spring, we are still able to continue racing! We will be able to attend some CBYRA Junior events and will work to provide plenty of racing opportunity right here at home as well! Our structure this year will include a mandatory one-week racing clinic which then allows access to race team practice sessions throughout the rest of the summer. Some experience required.
Regattas are not mandatory, regatta fees are not included.
Talk to Coach Josh if you are interested in racing with us.

$300 for clinic fee plus practices throughout summer
Clinic dates: Variable times, June 29- July 3

After-School Adventure

Get your summer fun started early! After-School Adventure fits sailing into a busy school schedule over the final four weeks of the SMCPS 2020 Spring schedule. Learn to sail in age-appropriate boats for a few afternoon hours every week to break up that homework monotony!

Note: We have cancelled the After-School Adventure program for 2020. We look forward to continuing in future seasons!

Adult Sailing Instruction

Another new offering for 2020! Using our Lasers with different rig sizes to fit every person, we are excited to offer a learn-to-sail option for adults. No more need to be envious of your kids sailing all day! Weeknight classes (Tuesdays and Thursdays) allow you to fit sailing into your schedule.

Unfortunately due to staffing concerns, we have cancelled our Adult Instructional program for 2020. We hope to see you next summer!

Ages 12-18

High School Preseason

Make sure you're ready for the fall 2020 high school racing season with our week-long scholastic racing clinic! Master the drills we run in our racing fleet, expand your knowledge of short-course tactics and strategy, and learn the essentials of team racing! Whether you're several seasons in and just need to knock the rust off, or all this is new to you, don't miss this warm-up for the season. Please Note: this is NOT a learn-to-sail course.

Cancelled for summer 2020
